How to Get Research Help

Library Appointment Policy

Appointment Limits

Chamberlain librarians offer a limited number of one-on-one appointments. To ensure equitable access for all students, we have created appointment limits that are outlined below:

  • Appointments may be scheduled up to 14 days in advance.

  • Students may schedule one appointment per day.

  • Students may schedule up to two appointments per week.

  • Students may schedule up to three appointments per calendar month.

  • Library Orientation appointments are limited to 25 minutes.

  • Library Research appointments are limited to 50 minutes.

Note! Librarians may add additional appointment times at their discretion.

Important Reminders

  • Check your Navigate360 Conversations: Librarians often reach out before your appointment to ask follow-up questions or clarify your request. Be sure to monitor the email address you provide in the appointment request form for updates.
  • Navigate360 Conversations vs. video appointments: If your question can be effectively answered via written conversation, the librarian may convert your video appointment to a Navigate360 Conversation.

Appointment Scope

Librarians are here to support your research needs; however, there are a few areas outside the scope of library appointments:

  • Librarians cannot assist with APA citations, paper formatting, or writing. For those needs, please connect with your instructor or go to the Writing Center.
  • Librarians cannot interpret assignment instructions. If you submit only your assignment prompt or do not include a clear research question or topic, your appointment may be canceled.

To make the most of your time with a librarian, please provide a specific research topic or question in the appointment request form. Thank you for helping us serve all students efficiently and effectively.
