Your best bet for finding clinical practice guidelines is to use the Search Everything box on the library homepage and add a search term of guidelines to your search. Example search: statins AND "heart disease" AND guidelines.
You also use filters in a few of our databases to find guidelines. Below are instructions for databases with guideline filters.

CINAHL with Full Text
Database - CINAHL with Full TextCINAHL with Full Text is the world’s largest database of nursing and allied health journals covering topics on nursing, biomedicine, alternative/complementary medicine, consumer health, and 17 allied health disciplines.
To find guidelines in this database, follow the steps below.
- Select the database link above. This will take you directly to the advanced search page.
- Enter your keywords in the search box.
- Move down to Limit Your Results.
- Select Practice Guidelines under the Publication Type menu, as shown in the image below, and select Search.
DynaMed Plus
Database - DynaMedDynaMed is a clinical reference tool that provides monographs on conditions and diseases, including the epidemiology, etiology, management, and prognosis.
To find guidelines in this database, follow the steps below.
- Select the database link above.
- Enter your keywords in the search box.
- Select the magnifying glass to search.
- Select the title of the result that best identifies your topic.
- Select Guidelines and Resources in the left-hand navigation menu. The image below highlights the guidelines option in the left-hand navigation menu for Autism Spectrum Disorders.
Medline Complete
To find guidelines in this database, follow the steps below.
- Select the database link above. This will take you directly to the advanced search page.
- Enter your keywords in the search box.
- Move down to Limit Your Results.
- Select Practice Guideline under the Publication Type menu, as shown in the image below, and select Search.
PubMed
Database - PubMedPubMed is an online source provided by the National Library of Medicine that features millions of citations for biomedical literature from Medline, life science journals, and eBooks. Citations may include links to full-text content from the Chamberlain Library, PubMed Central, and publisher websites.
To find guidelines in this database, follow the steps below.
- Select the database link above.
- Enter your keywords in the search box.
- Select Search.
- Move down and select Additional Filters on the left-hand side of the search results.
- Select Article Type in the left-hand navigation menu.
- Select Practice Guideline from the menu, as shown in the image below, and select Show.
