We have exciting news here at the library! As of today, July 1, we published changes to the library website and would love to tell you all about it! These changes result from a six-month-long annual audit of all the content on the library website. We review our website analytics to see if you're staying engaged with our content. Plus, we actively seek feedback from your programs to ensure we’re hitting the mark and aligning with the curriculum. With that information, we decide whether to add, modify, or remove content—keeping everything relevant and up-to-date for you!
We publish all changes to the website at the end of the audit, which happens to be today, July 1! The reason we publish on July 1 every year is simple: you are not here! Well, hopefully not. We hope you are enjoying your summer break!
While we certainly can’t cover all the little changes on the website, below are some updates worth noting. So, let’s get into the July launches, starting with the library homepage.
A Slightly Modified Database Shortcut List and New Search
The Database Shortcuts list on the library homepage looks different. We replaced Anatomy.TV with the ProQuest Health Professions Search, a search interface designed for students and faculty in the College of Health Professions.
You can use the ProQuest Health Professions Search to search across multiple databases:
- APA PsycArticles® (1894 - current)
- APA PsycInfo® (1806 - current)
- Ethnic NewsWatch
- GenderWatch, MEDLINE® (1946 - current)
- Environmental Science Database
- Health & Medical Collection
- Psychology Database
- Public Health Database
- Social Science Database
- Sociology Database (1985 - current)

But wait, that’s not the only thing we changed on the library homepage!
Live Workshops and Self-Guided Tutorials
Next to the new Database Shortcuts list is the new Live Workshops and Self-Guided Tutorials section. We offer live workshops to help you at various points in the research process. However, we understand that as busy, working adults, you can’t always make it to those workshops. So, we came up with a solution—introducing our self-guided tutorials! These self-guided tutorials give you the freedom to learn on your own time!
We are currently offering a Self-Guided Library Orientation. To register, select the link on the library homepage, select Register, and fill out the form to receive the link to the tutorial.
A Total Makeover of the Finding Types of Research Guide
Thanks to our amazing instructional librarians, the Finding Types of Research guide has a fresh new look! And did you know librarians are also teachers? That’s right! In this guide, they break down evidence-based practice into simple, easy-to-understand concepts. You'll also find step-by-step instructions on how to find different types of studies in the library, along with examples of what each one looks like.

New Subject Categories for Browsing and Searching the Website
We created subject categories for the research guides and databases to enhance your browsing and searching experience on the library website. More importantly, we did this by using search terms that you use when searching our website and our Search Everything system. So, thanks for that! We wanted to create something truly user-centered, so having access to this information allowed us to do just that.
Now, content that was difficult to find on the website is easy to find with a search or a selection from the list.
Our databases offer a wealth of resources across a broad spectrum of academic disciplines. Previously, each database listed every academic discipline it covered, making it harder to find exactly what you were looking for. With this update, only the most relevant subjects are highlighted in each database’s subject categories, making it easier to find the perfect resource for your research.
New Library News Layout
Check it out—even Library News has a fresh new look! Gone are the days of endless scrolling or moving down the Library News homepage. With our sleek new horizontal card layout, you can now browse easily through teaser text, selecting the headlines to read the full posts. Plus, the revamped right-hand sidebar gives you more ways to explore, including handy subject categories. It’s all designed to help you find what you’re looking for faster and easier!
And that’s it! We hope you take some time to explore all the updates, and we look forward to assisting you!
