What is Creative Commons?

Creative Commons is an international non-profit organization that provides free legal tools to enable content creators (like authors, artists, and photographers) to share their work, and easily permit others to use and reuse that work for both commercial and non-commercial purposes (Creative Commons, 2019). In practical terms, the Creative Commons organization, through the licenses it creates and helps people use, contributes to open culture, and advocates for open access to information and creative works.

Students often search for Creative Commons licensed images, music, and other materials to support classroom presentations, because media that has been licensed through Creative Commons for commercial reuse are generally acceptable for Chamberlain classes!

How Can I Find Creative Commons Resources?

Creative Commons offers a great tool called Creative Commons Search to help users find freely available images online.
