Chamberlain Library Celebrates Black History Month

Chamberlain Library celebrates Black History Month throughout February to recognize contributions that African Americans have woven into the fabric of America. The origin of Black History Month dates back to the 20th century when Carter G. Woodson, historian and founder of the Association for the Study of African American Life and History, expressed interest in highlighting the achievements of black people. In 1926, Woodson decided to campaign for an annual week dedicated to Black history.
